Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
The short version: AIRA has no accounts, no ads, and no data selling — ever. The AI runs entirely on your device, and your messages are never sent to any cloud AI service. Your conversations are backed up to our servers under a random, anonymous identifier so they aren't lost, and we collect basic anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. That's the whole picture; the details are below.
1. Who we are
AIRA ("the app", "we", "us") is an AI companion app for iPhone, built and operated by an independent developer. For anything privacy-related, contact us at yagyeshsrbobde@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
Conversation backups
To keep your conversation history safe, the app backs up your chat messages to servers we operate. This backup includes:
- The text of messages in your conversation — both what you write and what Aira replies;
- A random anonymous identifier generated on your device the first time you use the app. It is not derived from and cannot be linked to your name, email address, phone number, or any other real-world identity — the app never asks for any of those;
- Message metadata: timestamps, whether a message came from you or Aira, its type (for example, a check-in or a shared image reference).
Backups are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in a database hosted by our infrastructure providers (currently Vercel and Neon, hosted in the United States).
Usage analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. Analytics events cover things like completing onboarding, selecting a companion mode, downloading the AI model, and sending a message (we record that a message was sent and its length — never its content). Firebase also collects standard device information (device model, OS version, coarse region, app version) as described in Google's privacy policy. We do not use analytics data to track you across other apps or websites, and the app declares no tracking under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.
Information that never leaves your device
- Your name and birthdate, entered during onboarding;
- Your chosen companion mode and art style;
- The AI model itself and all AI processing of your messages.
3. Information we do not collect
- No account, email address, phone number, or password;
- No contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location access;
- No advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking;
- No sale of personal information, and no sharing with data brokers or advertisers — under any circumstances.
4. On-device AI
Aira's intelligence is an open-weights language model (approximately 1.1 GB) that is downloaded once and runs entirely on your device. Your messages are never sent to a cloud AI service for processing. When you first download the model, your device connects to Hugging Face's servers to fetch the model file; like any web request, that download exposes your IP address to Hugging Face under their privacy policy. No conversation data is included in that request.
5. How we use information
- Conversation backups — to preserve and restore your chat history, and to diagnose and fix reliability problems with the app;
- Analytics — to understand which features are used and improve the app;
- Safety — to review, in rare cases and only when necessary, whether our safety features (such as crisis responses) are working as intended.
We do not use your conversations to train AI models, and we do not read conversations except as described above or as required by law.
6. Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work: Vercel and Neon (backup hosting and storage), Google Firebase (analytics), and Hugging Face (one-time model download). Each processes data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law or valid legal process.
7. Retention and deletion
Conversation backups are retained while they are needed to provide the service. Deleting a message inside the app removes it from your device. Deleting the app removes all local data, including your name, birthdate, and the AI model.
To request deletion of your backed-up conversation data from our servers, email us at yagyeshsrbobde@gmail.com from the device in question and we will work with you to identify and delete the associated records. Because backups are keyed only to an anonymous identifier, we may need information from your device (such as the identifier itself) to locate your data.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at yagyeshsrbobde@gmail.com. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their privacy rights.
9. Children
AIRA is rated 17+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app's romantic companion mode is restricted to users who confirm a birthdate of 18 or older; younger users are always given a strictly platonic experience. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Backup data is stored with access limited to the developer and protected by our infrastructure providers' security controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we minimize risk by collecting as little as possible and never linking data to your real identity.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes (such as collecting new categories of data) will also be highlighted in the app.
